New Sell facility for galley inserts

Sell has opened its new galley inserts facility in Burg, a district of Herborn, located 2 km from the main headquarter.
The decision to move the galley inserts production to the new facility was made to provide more space for galley production in Herborn.
In addition to the production relocation, stores, shipping, administration and repair have been moved. The production layout embraces lean principles to facilitate shorter lead-times and reduce waste.
Galley inserts utilise an area of 3.400 m² and approximately 500m² will be used as office space and social zone.
All machinery is positioned centrally to reduce unnecessary employee movement and improve productivity. In addition, the oven production assembly line number has been increased from two to three (two production lines, one repair line). The lines include buffer zones to ensure a smooth production flow. The area for the beverage maker and water boiler production will also follow lean production principles.
This facility will allow Sell to grow its business beyond current physical limitations and, more importantly, provide the customers with an improved service.
